Dana Simpson
Dana graduated from Utrecht University in 2005 and relocated to Northern Ireland, working in mixed veterinary practice with a focus on ruminants. In 2016, she transitioned to poultry veterinary medicine and currently is a member of the St Davids Poultry team, managing commercial layer clients across Ireland.
Dana specialises in poultry physiology and nutrition, collaborating with nutritionists, feed mills, and nutraceutical companies to create tailored plans that enhance sustainable production and bird welfare. Her work has led to extended laying cycles and reduced antimicrobial use. She also contributes to the development and testing of nutraceuticals for laying hens. In 2024, she obtained a certAVP in advanced poultry medicine from the University of Liverpool, along with an AVPcert(Poultry).
Dana holds additional certifications in train-the-trainer and project management and is actively involved in multiple poultry industry working groups and academic research through the WPSA.
